Ακούμε από αυτό το Allegro Appassionato, από τον Maurizio Pollini (R.I.P.)
Reluctant to undertake the training of a promising Johannes Brahms, Eduard Marxsen, pianist, composer and famous teacher of the time, worried about the boy’s progress being a result of work rather than talent, would eventually recede, thanks to a natural sympathy for him. The latter would later note that he didn’t learn anything from the teacher. Speaking of course about Brahms, we are referring to a figure full of mysterious, insoluble aspects and contradictions : a look at Marxsen’s work and the correspondence between the two testifies to a constant influence, including advisory level.
In 1881, Brahms would dedicate his magnificent Piano Concerto No 2 to the teacher. From this we hear Allegro Appassionato, by Maurizio Pollini (R.I.P.) and the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Claudio Abbado.
