Ο Donald Sutherland υπήρξε ιδιαίτερα αγαπητός, σε μένα και σε πάρα πολύ κόσμο, εκπροσώπους τριών γενεών τουλάχιστον. Μια “ενδιαφέρουσα” διαπίστωση αφορά στο ότι ένας ηθοποιός όπως αυτός με περίπου 140 φιλμ, πολλά απ’ τα οποία πρώτης διαλογής, σε μια καριέρα 6 δεκαετιών, ουδέποτε βραβεύθηκε, ή προτάθηκε καν για κάποιο Όσκαρ. Η έμφαση στην τρέχουσα επικαιρότητα αφορά στη συμμετοχή του στο Hunger Games. Αυτό, για ένα καλλιτέχνη που συνεργάσθηκε με σκηνοθέτες από τον Robert Altman (MASH) και τον Alan Pakula (Klute) μέχρι τον Nicolas Roeg (Don’t Look Now) τον Fellini (Casanova) και τον Bertolucci (1900).

Donald Sutherland was very dear to me and to many other people, spanning at least three generations. An ”interesting” finding is that an actor like him, with almost 140 films, many of them first-rate, in a career spanning 6 decades, has never been awarded, or even nominated for an Oscar. The emphasis on current affairs is on his participation in The Hunger Games. This is for an artist who collaborated with directors from Robert Altman (MASH) and Alan Pakula (Klute) to Nicolas Roeg (Don’t Look Now) Fellini (Casanova) and Bertolucci (1900).
