from Oannes *

Για την εορταστική περίσταση, ένα νεοκλασικό έργο του Νίκου Σκαλκώτα (1904-1949) : η Συμφωνιέττα, από τις τελευταίες, συμβατικότερης φόρμας συνθέσεις του. Η ελληνική πολιτεία δεν δείχνει σήμερα πολύ μεγαλύτερο ενδιαφέρον για το έργο του ΝΣ απ’ όσο ( = μηδενικό) είχε δείξει στη διάρκεια της ζωής του. Η ηχογράφηση ανήκει στον κατάλογο της Naxos – η πιο σοβαρή προσπάθεια παρουσίασης του έργου του συνθέτη (ο επιφανής Βρετανός μουσικολόγος Hans Keller τον κατατάσσει στους μεγαλύτερους του αιώνα) προέρχεται από τη σουηδική δισκογραφική BIS. Ακούμε το πρώτο μέρος της εξαιρετικής Συμφωνιέττας, Andante sostenuto – Allegro.

For the festive occasion, we hear a neoclassical work by Nikos Skalkottas (1904-1949) : Sinfonietta, one of his last compositions, more conventional in terms of form. The Greek state does not show much more interest in NS’s work today than what it ‘d shown during his lifetime (=zero). The recording belongs to the Naxos catalogue – the most serious attempt for the composer’s work presentation (prominent British musicologist Hans Keller ranks him among the greatest of the century) comes from the Swedish record label BIS. We hear the first part of the excellent Sinfonietta, Andante sostenuto – Allegro.
