Με τη σημαία της avant- garde σε θέση υποστολής, βυθισμένη στον ινδουιστικό μυστικισμό, η Alice Coltrane ηχογραφεί στα ’70s μια σειρά άλμπουμ για την Warner Bros. Χρειάσθηκε να περάσει κάποιο διάστημα για να υπερνικηθεί η δυσπιστία των jazz aficionados για τη “συμβατική” μελωδικότητα άλμπουμ όπως το Transcendence (1977). Ακούμε ένα αριστουργηματικό κομμάτι από αυτό, χαρακτηριστικό της περιόδου, με τη σπουδαία καλλιτέχνιδα στην άρπα.

With the avant-garde flag at half-mast, immersed in Hindu mysticism, Alice Coltrane recorded a series of albums for Warner Bros during the 1970s. It took some time for jazz aficionados to overcome their skepticism toward the “conventional” melodiousness of releases like Transcendence (1977). We listen to a masterful piece from it, characteristic of the period, featuring the brilliant artist on the harp.
