Στα 1971 ο σολίστας της κέλτικης άρπας Alan Stivell εδραιώνει σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο το ενδιαφέρον για τη μουσική της χερσονήσου της Βρετάνης (“Μικρής Βρετανίας”) στο βορειοδυτικό άκρο της Γαλλίας. Ο τίτλος του τρίτου δίσκου του που εκδίδεται τότε, αποτελεί αυτοεκπληρούμενη προφητεία : Renaissance Of The Celtic Harp. Εμείς ακούμε το εισαγωγικό κομμάτι, βασισμένο όπως και όλο το υλικό του άλμπουμ σε παραδοσιακά θέματα. Ys είναι το όνομα μυθικής πόλης – της Ατλαντίδας τρόπον τινά των Βρετόνων.

In 1971, the Celtic harp soloist Alan Stivell single-handedly put the music of the Brittany peninsula (“Little Britain”), at the northwestern tip of France, on the global map. The title of his third album, released that year, turned out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy: Renaissance of the Celtic Harp. We are listening to the opening track, which, like the entire album, is based on traditional themes. Ys is the name of the mythical city – the Bretons’ very own Atlantis, so to speak.
