On this date, May 17, 1965, Trent Reznor, the most prominent figure [along with his idol, Al Jourgensen] of the species recorded as industrial, was born. Certainly the most commercially successful in the field, touching levels of mainstream success – Nine Inch Nails was David Bowie’s choice as a live support band, at the time of his return in the ’90s.
We listen to four tracks from an equal number of albums.

0:00 Terrible Lie [Pretty Hate Machine, 1989] 4:39 Closer [The Downward Spiral, 1994] 10:52 Starfuckers [The Fragile, 2002] 16:17 Run Like Hell [Ghosts VI: Locusts, 2020]

…and 3 from me:

Happy Birthday T.R.!

  1. Fabulous 👍. I have been impressed by Trent’s diversity, or maybe a better word is evolution. He came storming onto the world stage – catapulted by synchronous and sympathetic sources – and took the lead in changing contemporary music forever.

    • First album I heard was Pretty Hate Machine… since then he has come a long way indeed but it still remains a dear album to me! I can tell you i had a hard time choosing tracks!
