It may not be a musical post but I am a Trekkie, so…
[my translation]
On this day, September 8, 1966, the Enterprise spaceship first appeared on American television.
For some of us, regardless of generation or nationality, Star Trek ended up being a kind of cult – a ritual beaming into the utopia of our childhood.
Its dimensions as a “cultural phenomenon” are well known, many analyses have been written – but not for now.
After all, they never mattered, at least to some of us for whom this series has played a role in their lives.
“Personally”, as a listener and musician, I have loved and idolized a whole host of creators, singers, conductors & soloists.
Never anyone a much as Captain Kirk – William Shatner.
Happy Anniversary to Trekkies everywhere! 😉

I believe the phrase “Who put the tribbles in the quadrotriticale?” should be turned into a song. It seems perfect for hip hop 🙂 Hugs!!
It really should!!!!! 🤣😂
Many hugs to you!!!! xoxoxoxo
It was in syndication when I was in college. It would come on at 4:30 in the afternoon. If we were home, we would turn it on. My roommate had an enormous basset hound who was intelligent beyond all calculation. He never paid attention to the television set except when Star Trek was on. But for Star Trek, he would sit watching it intently, taking his attention away only during commercial breaks. Then as soon as the show resumed he would sit up with his eyes riveted on the screen. Every time we watched Kirk and his crew, Pellinore would sit at attention. He was not only intelligent, he had excellent taste.
Now that’s what I call a clever pup!!!! …and with a brilliant name too!!!! If only there was a photograph of him watching cpt Kirk….
I really wish…
I was hoping you had but ohhhhh……
I became a Trekkie with my first husband – huge fan of The Next Generation. I then watched Deep Space Nine, Voyager (even if Captain Janeway’s voice drove me bananas) and they lost me with Discovery and somehow, I never got into Enterprise. The original series was watched and rewatched 😉
Me too (on hubs) original is still A by far on my list then Enterprise and Next Gen on a tie. Enterprise had a very ‘bonded’ crew. When I started watching it I thought, no way but very soon it grabbed me!!! Then Janeway (I know that voice, but still nice series and I like her) Discovery I liked the first season. Second, they lost me too. Not a great fan of DSN. If you haven’t watched Enterprise, give it a chance, you’ll be surprised. 😉
I honestly don’t know why I didn’t watch Enterprise. And my father looked like Picard. 😉 As for DSN – not my fave either… Except for Commander Sisko – he was rather yummy.
I’ll see if I can get Enterprise
And I missed Picard! Somehow I heard about it too late. Ah well..
I never watched any series at the time they were showing, except some TNG and Discovery. Hubs has ALL the DVD sets though and there’s Netflix too, so… 😉
Now you mention it, I don’t think we’ve watched Picard either! 😳
How nice to have Picard as your dad! 😉 xoxoxo
Haha! Yes, he was stopped all the time. And before that, it was because he looked like our former Prime Minister Trudeau
All the good guys, however I bet he was better than all of them! 😉
😉
