The time of the year when the Sun shines directly on the Equator and the length of day and night is almost equal, marking the first day of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.
Autumn over here and my favorite season too. There’s a special kind of quiet this season, accompanied by a burst of fiery colors, very dear to me.
Moon Phase: Waxing Crescent • Visible: 33%↑ • Age: 5,72 days • Moon Distance: 368,382.09 km
I decided to do
the Sun and the Moon,
side by side
in similar …moods.
● Sun and clouds
○ Moon and clouds
● Sun bokeh
○ Moon bokeh
Finally, a day beginning and a day ending,
before they merge into one image [top]

Many thanx for sharing these wonderful pics and info, Marina.
Ah, thank you very much, Art. So glad you enjoyed them! 🙏
Ah, thank you!
I’m in love with your equinox piece, you’ve created a tender image that echoes the balance of the seasons so perfectly. And the photos of sun and moon are lovely and hard to capture without the right knowledge and equipment. BTW Marina, your blog and others I follow no longer let me ‘Like’ a post. Just so you know and remember I will always ‘Like’ everything you create.
Ah, my dear friend, thank you so much! Coming from an artist I admire, this means a lot!
On WP, I have no idea why this happens, along with other similar glitches like me not being able to follow back some friends of my blog etc. I’ve had that happen with me too but after a couple of reloads of the page, I could. But this is trivial really. What I value and am grateful for is your presence here and kind words. No ‘like button’ needed! 😉 🙏😊
Thanks Marina, I hear you
Wonderful selection of images. ❤️❤️
Ah, thank you very much! 🙂🙏
Gorgeous, dear Marina.. Groetjes, 😍❤️
Aww, thank you, my dear Francina!
Spectacular way to greet the Autumnal Equinox. I share your love of Autumn – for me, it is a time of innovation and fresh thinking. As you know, I love Greek mythology. Recently, I met up with the goddess of sun and morning,
Alectrona (also known as Electryone or Electryo), thought to be the greek goddess of the sun. I understand that she might have also been the goddess of morning or ‘waking from slumber’. Of course, Helios, Titan lord of the sun was her father. It seems that sunshine runs in the family. Anyway, I love waking up to your posts!
“Sunshine runs in the family” indeed!!!!!
Such a beautiful name too huh? Electryone!
Thank you so much for your beautiful words, my dearest friend! I hope you enjoy all mornings in joy with Electryone! 😉
The photographs of the sun and clouds and moon and clouds took my fancy. The sun bokeh picture’s glow beneath the sun is unusual; I don’t recall seeing anything like it.
You may be surprised to learn, as I was, that Australia and New Zealand don’t follow astronomy but have arbitrarily declared each season to begin on the first of the relevant month. While those of us in the north began autumn with the solstice on September 22 (which is the subject of your post), people in Australia and New Zealand have been in their spring since September 1.
Ah, thank you, my friend! Well, when you catch the sun just about rising from a mountain, the rays kind of bleach out the tip of the mountain. That’s what you see as a glow beneath.
Now that’s some info I did not know. I mean I knew the south is in their spring but didn’t know about them not following those astronomy dates… hmmm 🤔
Beautiful shots for the celebration leading us into the season of fall colors. Your work opening the collection is perfect. To my friend, Yamas!
Ah, thank you, my dear friend! Great to see you! Here’s to fall colors and beauty […and freedom! 😉 ]
Love your concept of merging sunrise and sunset. A beginning and an ending coalescing as part of the eternal cycle.
Hope you had a pleasant Mabon.
Thank you so much, my friend!
It was a lovely day. This, to me, is just the perfect season, weather wise too.
Hope you also had a pleasant Mabon!
Beautiful shots, Marina!
I like the Equinoxes. Right now is one of the best seasons for going for long walks.
So, soon I turn the calendar, and soon we turn the clocks!
Love the song, but love your pics more!
How time flies huh?! But wait, we still have another week of this beautiful month! Clocks turn so early? I think it’s end of October…?
Thank you, my sweet friend.
Have a lovely day and an equally[!] lovely night! 😉
