Ο Heinrich Schütz είναι ο σημαντικότερος Γερμανός συνθέτης πριν από τη εποχή του Johann Sebastian Bach. Ήταν ο πρώτος Γερμανός που έγραψε όπερα – “Δαφνη”, τα χειρόγραφα της οποίας έχουν χαθεί όπως και το μεγαλύτερο μέρους του, θρησκευτικού ως επί το πλείστον, έργου του… Το Warum Toben Die Heiden [Γιατί μαίνονται οι βάρβαροι] είναι βασισμένο στον Ψαλμό 2. Τους Gabrieli Consort & Players διευθύνει ο Paul McCreesh.

Heinrich Schütz is considered the most important German composer of the pre – Bach era. He was the first German to write an opera – “Dafni”, whose manuscripts have been lost, along with a large part of his work… Warum Toben Die Heiden [Why do the Heathen rage] is based on Psalm 2. We hear it from The Gabrieli Consort & Players, directed by Paul McCreesh.
