[21 May – 20 June]
Today is the first day of Gemini, the third sign of the Zodiac.
Gemini is a mutable air sign, ruled by Mercury.
Quick-witted and sociable they are always ready for fun [or not!] with a curiosity about the world that knows no bounds …but is there enough time?!
Starting from the last [12th] sign, I’ll be posting these original illustrations, Anakreon Kanavakis created for a calendar. [check it out here]
I love these so much, I designed a whole set of products with them at my art shop.
Here are a few.
and… Happy birthdays to all Geminis out there!

Thank you, Sue, it’s so good to see you here!
You too have a great June, my dearest friend!
Love and baskets of hugs to you!
Thank you…. MEGA hugs back ❤
Love the illo, love the style!! The guy that drew it is clearly a genius, and I predict he will have a daughter who’s also a genius!! 👍👏💪🙏🏆😘
A ha ha ha haaaaaa…..
The illustrator thanks you humbly, as for the daughter… she is grateful for her genius friend, Mark Armstrong! 🙏😇
I hear Zeus is sending rivers of ambrosia!
The axe makes quite a contrast with the mandolin.
The two brothers [Castor & Pollux] united life and death. I believe this is the symbolism. 🙏
I have an unrelated question. On the Internet I find sites saying things like: the Greek word meraki means “the soul, creativity, or love put into something; the essence of yourself that is put into your work.” Another website says: “Meraki is used by Greeks to describe scenarios when a person has really put a part of themselves into something. It could be cooking that comes from the heart, composing a piece of music that comes straight from the soul, or writing an article that expresses thoughts openly, honestly, and vulnerably.” Still another site says “Meraki, μεράκι, literally means “essence of ourselves.”
In Greece, do you really use μεράκι in those senses, or have some Americans grabbed hold of the word and extended its meaning?
To do something with “meraki” is to do something with the heart and soul. “Essence of ourselves” is probably giving it a slightly different meaning. For example: you take your photographs with meraki. 😉
I don’t know how I missed this post, Marina, but I’m glad Resa reblogged it! Love the artwork with your products. Your dad is so talented. And by the way, I love my mugs! ☕️

Reblogged this on Graffiti Lux Art & More and commented:
From Marina Kanavaki at Art Towards a Happy day, here is the third sign of the Zodiac as imagined by Anakreon Kanavakis, Marina’s father. Seeing each astrological sign go by, in a drawing by him, is adding another joy to my life.

My first son was born on May 25th and in his short life, already showed signs of being a true Gemini. Love the artwork!
Thank you, my dearest friend. This can’t be easy remembering…
Nah… It’s good. I keep the good memories alive and smile when I think of him. xoxoxoxo
That is so beautiful… and of course… he’s always in your heart. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Love this! Castor and Pollux, the twins! And the colours are FAB! ♊
Thank you, my friend! So, you know the story of the Dioskouri brothers! I will forward your kind words!
I love the illustration. Gemini creative musician and happy warrior?
Thank you, Tim!
I think he wanted to symbolize the heaven and the underworld which the two brothers [Dioskouri: Castor & Pollux] divided their time between.
I love it! Is there a certain significance with the musical instrument (lute?) and the axe?
Thank you, Liz! I believe he wanted to symbolize by those two, the heaven and the underworld where the two brothers [Castor and Pollux] divided their time.
You’re welcome, Marina! Thank you for the additional context for the image. (It’s been a very, very long time since I studied mythology in college.)
I had to double check and I’m greek!!! We did mythology in elementary school. I don’t remember much! 🤣
This one made me smile. Cheers to all the Geminis out there. Yamas!
Happy to hear that, my friend!
I really like the artwork and it works well with the products in your shop.
Thank you very much, my friend! 🙏😌
