Gemini the hyperactive thinker

[21 May – 20 June]

Today is the first day of Gemini, the third sign of the Zodiac.

Gemini is a mutable air sign, ruled by Mercury.

Quick-witted and sociable they are always ready for fun [or not!] with a curiosity about the world that knows no bounds …but is there enough time?!

Starting from the last [12th] sign, I’ll be posting these original illustrations, Anakreon Kanavakis created for a calendar. [check it out here]

I love these so much, I designed a whole set of products with them at my art shop.

Here are a few.

Happy Sunday!

and… Happy birthdays to all Geminis out there!

The illustrator thanks you humbly, as for the daughter… she is grateful for her genius friend, Mark Armstrong! 🙏😇

      • I have an unrelated question. On the Internet I find sites saying things like: the Greek word meraki means “the soul, creativity, or love put into something; the essence of yourself that is put into your work.” Another website says: “Meraki is used by Greeks to describe scenarios when a person has really put a part of themselves into something. It could be cooking that comes from the heart, composing a piece of music that comes straight from the soul, or writing an article that expresses thoughts openly, honestly, and vulnerably.” Still another site says “Meraki, μεράκι, literally means “essence of ourselves.”

In Greece, do you really use μεράκι in those senses, or have some Americans grabbed hold of the word and extended its meaning?

        • To do something with “meraki” is to do something with the heart and soul. “Essence of ourselves” is probably giving it a slightly different meaning. For example: you take your photographs with meraki. 😉

  3. I don’t know how I missed this post, Marina, but I’m glad Resa reblogged it! Love the artwork with your products. Your dad is so talented. And by the way, I love my mugs! ☕️
Sending hugs your way, my friend! 🧡🤗💙💛

  4. Reblogged this on Graffiti Lux Art & More and commented:

From Marina Kanavaki at Art Towards a Happy day, here is the third sign of the Zodiac as imagined by Anakreon Kanavakis, Marina’s father. Seeing each astrological sign go by, in a drawing by him, is adding another joy to my life.

  5. Love this! Give your dad a hug for me! 🤗

    OH and Hera! xoxo🧽xoxoxox🧽xxoxo 🧽

Will happily reblog this once Sea Turtle is done…. a coupe of days!

  6. My first son was born on May 25th and in his short life, already showed signs of being a true Gemini. Love the artwork!

    • Thank you, Tim!
I think he wanted to symbolize the heaven and the underworld which the two brothers [Dioskouri: Castor & Pollux] divided their time between.

Happy to hear your thoughts
