Οπως έχουμε αναφέρει ξανά μιλώντας για τον Gustav Holst, ο δημιουργός των Πλανητών είναι ευρύτερα γνωστός γι’ αυτούς και μόνο. Πράγμα περίεργο, καθότι ο Βρετανός [σε πείσμα του γερμανικού του ονόματος] συνθέτης είναι υπεύθυνος για ένα πλήθος έργων άξιων ανακάλυψης.
Ένα από αυτά είναι η τριμερής ορχηστρική σουίτα ‘Beni Mora’, εμπνευσμένη από τη μουσική που άκουσε όντας σε διακοπές στην Αλγερία [1908].
Πέρα από το αρμονικό – μελωδικό ενδιαφέρον και τον χρωματικό πλούτο, παρατηρεί κανείς τις πρώιμες μινιμαλιστικές νύξεις στο τρίτο μέρος του έργου : η επαναληπτική μελωδία του φλάουτου έχει περιγραφεί απ΄τον συνθέτη σαν ηχητικό σουβενίρ από την “εξωτική” χώρα.

As we have mentioned again speaking about Gustav Holst, the creator of The Planets is widely known for this work exclusively. Which is strange, because the British [despite his German name] composer of numerous works worth discovering.
One of them is ‘Beni Mora’, a three-part orchestral suite inspired by the music he heard while on vacation in Algeria [1908].
Apart from harmonic – melodic interest and richness of color, one can observe the early minimalist allusions on the third part of the work : the repetitive melody from the flute has been described by the composer as a sound souvenir from the “exotic” country.
Malcolm Sargent conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
