Έχει ενδιαφέρον ότι, την εποχή ήδη που γράφτηκε το έργο, το φαινόμενο της “φυσιολατρείας” και της “απόδρασης” από τη βοή της πόλης ήταν καθιερωμένο. Ο Beethoven ήταν γνωστός για την αγάπη του για τη φύση, τους μακρινούς δημιουργικούς του περιπάτους και τα διαστήματα που πέρναγε σε εξοχικά πλούσιων φίλων.
Αυτή η αγάπη διαποτίζει την Ποιμενική Συμφωνία του. Πρόκειται για ενα από τα ελάχιστα “προγραμματικά” – περιγραφικά έργα του συνθέτη [η μουσική στην υπηρεσία μιας αφήγησης, το κείμενο της οποίας δινόταν στο κοινό πριν απ’ τη συναυλία].
Ένας Θεός και μόνο μπορεί να ξέρει τι γίνεται στο μυαλό ενός ανθρώπου που, τη συγκεκριμένη περίοδο [early 1800s], συνθέτει ταυτόχρονα την 6η και την 5η Συμφωνία του [θα παρουσιάζονταν μαζί στη Βιέννη, 22 Dec. 1808].
Ακούμε το δεύτερο μέρος, Szene am Bach (Σκηνή δίπλα στο ρυάκι) Andante molto mosso.

Interestingly, by the time the work was written, the phenomenon of “nature worship” and “escape” from the rumbling of the city was already established; Beethoven was known for his love of nature, his distant creative walks and the intervals he spent in country houses of wealthy friends.
This love pervades his Pastoral Symphony; it is one of the few “programmatic” – descriptive works of his [music in the service of a narrative, the text of which was given to the audience before the concert].
God only knows what is going on in the mind of a man who composes, at this particular time [early 1800s], the Sixth and the Fifth Symphony simultaneously [they would be premiered together in Vienna, on Dec. 22, 1808].
We hear the second part. Szene am Bach (Scene By The Stream) Andante molto mosso.
