from Oannes *

Πίσω στον συνθέτη του μήνα, Felix Mendelssohn, με ένα ακόμα αριστούργημα της εφηβικής του ηλικίας – το έγραψε 17 ετών : Kουιντέτο εγχόρδων Νο 1 σε Λα ελάσσονα, op. 18 από το οποίο ακούμε το φευγάτο Scherzo (Allegro di motto).
Όχι ακριβώς το πιο εύκολο έργο να αποδοθεί – έχω ακούσει διακεκριμένα σύνολα να περνούν κάτω απ’ τον πήχη. Aλλά οι Jaime Laredo (βιολί), Ani Kavafian (βιολί), Heiichiro Ohyama (βιόλα), Kim Kashkashian (βιόλα), Sharon Robinson (τσέλο) στέκονται απόλυτα στο ύψος της περίστασης.

Back to this month’ s composer, Felix Mendelssohn, with another masterpiece of his adolescence – he wrote it at 17 : String quintet No. 1 in A minor, op. 18, from which we hear the loopy Scherzo (Allegro di motto).
Not exactly the easiest work to perform – I‘ve heard distinguished ensembles passing below the bar. But Jaime Laredo (violin), Ani Kavafian (violin), Heiichiro Ohyama (viola), Kim Kashkashian (viola), Sharon Robinson (cello) rise perfectly to the occasion.
