From the greatest composer of the 20th century, Sergei Prokofiev and his spellbinding soundtrack for Eisenstein’s film “Ivan The Terrible” – directed during Wartime, Stalin’s orders, for propaganda reasons. Here’s two excerpts from it. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chorus of the Kirov Orchestra are conducted by Valery Gergiev.
