Το πρόσφατο άλμπουμ του Rick Wakeman σημειώνει μια επιστροφή στον progressive ’70s εαυτό του. Το Red Planet (2020) δεν αγγίζει κορυφές όπως του Six Wives ή του Criminal Record. Δεν παύει όμως να αποτελεί αναπάντεχα θετική προσφορά του μεγάλου κιμπορντίστα, παιδικού μου ειδώλου, μέλους των Yes …και του May born musicians club. Ακούμε το Tharsis Tholus.
Για τη συνέχεια διαλέγουμε το Life On Mars? από τα “πιανιστικά πορτραίτα” του άλμπουμ που κυκλοφόρησε το 2017 (ήταν ο πιανίστας του Bowie στο κλασικό Hunky Dory). Και τέλος, το tour de force του RW από το θρυλικό – τριπλό βινύλιο – live των Yes, Yessongs του 1973.

Rick Wakeman’s recent album marks a return to his ‘70s progressive self. Red Planet (2020) doesn’t reach peaks like those of Six Wives or Criminal Record. It still is an unexpectedly positive offer from the great keyboardist, childlike idol of mine, member of Yes … and the May born musicians club. We listen to Tharsis Tholus.
After that, we pick “Life On Mars?” among the “piano portraits” of this 2017 album (he was Bowie’s piano player on the classic Hunky Dory). And finally, RW’s tour de force from the legendary – triple vinyl – live Yes album, Yessongs of 1973.
