Ο μεγάλος Γερμανός συνθέτης Christoph Willibald Gluck γεννήθηκε αυτό το μήνα πριν από 310 χρόνια στο Erasbach του Άνω Παλατινάτου.Στην Γαλλία, όπου κυρίως διέπρεψε, ανακηρύχθηκε πανηγυρικά σε επαναστάτη / ανανεωτή της όπερας [είναι ενδιαφέρον ότι, διαχρονικά ουδείς από τους ανανεωτές της γαλλικής όπερας, Lully, Gluck, Cherubini, υπήρξε …Γάλλος].
Η επανάσταση του Gluck αφορούσε στον “εξανθρωπισμό” της μπαρόκ όπερας, με μεγαλύτερη έμφαση στη μελωδία και δραστικές περικοπές συστατικών της που την έκαναν μη λειτουργική.
Ακούμε αποσπάσματα από τρια έργα του: ‘Η Επιείκια του Τίτου’,‘Ιφιγένεια Εν Ταύροις’, και το γνωστότερο απ’ όλα, ‘Ορφέας και Ευρυδίκη’.

The great German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck was born this month 310 years ago in Erasbach, Upper Palatinate. In France, where he made his greatest successes, he was celebrated as a revolutionary/reviver of the opera [it is interesting that, over time, none of the revivers of the French opera, Lully, Gluck, Cherubini, has been … French].
Gluck‘s revolution was about the “humanization” of baroque opera, a greater emphasis on melody and drastic cuts of components that made it non-functional.
We hear excerpts from three of his works: La Clemenza Di Tito, ‘Iphigenia In Taurus’, and the best known of all, ‘Orpheus and Eurydice’.
