from Oannes *

Το θρησκευτικό δράμα του Maeterlinck ‘Soeur Béatrice’ (Αδελφή Βεατρίκη) έχει αποτελέσει πλην του Kurt Atterberg (βλ. προηγούμενο μουσικό post) πηγή έμπνευσης για αρκετούς ακόμα συνθέτες, ένας από τους οποίους ήταν ο Δημήτρης Μητρόπουλος. Η όπερα Soeur Béatrice θεωρείται ένα απ’ τα πιο σημαντικά έργα του μεγάλου, γνωστού κυρίως ως μαέστρου, Έλληνα καλλιτέχνη.
To 1915, 4 χρόνια πριν την πρεμιέρα της όπερας είχε παρουσιάσει αυτό το 6 λεπτών διάρκειας πιανιστικό κομψοτέχνημα, που ακούμε από τη Δανάη Καρά. Το μουσικό του υλικό θα ενσωματωνόταν σε ορχηστρική μεταγραφή, σε κάποιες απ’ τις σκηνές του έργου.

Maeterlinck’s religious drama ‘Soeur Béatrice’ (Sister Beatrice) has been, apart from Kurt Atterberg (see previous music post), a source of inspiration for other composers also, among them Dimitri Mitropoulos. The opera Soeur Béatrice is considered one of the most important works of the great, known mainly as conductor, Greek artist.
In 1915, 4 years before the opera’s premiere, he ‘d presented the 6 minute piano masterpiece we hear performed by Danae Kara. Its musical material would be incorporated in its orchestral transcription to some of the work’s scenes.
