Η Κανόπη ήταν παραλιακή πόλη της αρχαίας Αιγύπτου, αν και η μουσική γλώσσα στην οποία “μιλά” γι’ αυτήν ο Debussy, στο 10ο πρελούδιο από το δεύτερο βιβλίο του – Préludes Livre II – έχει περισσότερη σχέση με το γκαμελάν της Ιάβας…
Το ακούμε σε δυο εκδοχές. Ο Maurizio Pollini στην αυθεντική για πιάνο και ο συνθέτης – βιρτουόζος Sabin Levi στη δική του μεταγραφή για εκκλησιαστικό όργανο.

Canope was a coastal city in ancient Egypt, although the musical language on which Debussy speaks about it, on the 10th prelude from his second book – Préludes Livre II – has more to do with Java’s gamelan…
We hear this in two versions. Maurizio Pollini on the original one for piano, and composer – virtuoso Sabin Levi on his own transcription for church organ.
