Υπάρχει κάτι μοναδικό στη χημεία του βρετανικού jazz-fusion σχήματος που λειτούργησε για δύο δεκαετίες, ξεκινώντας απ΄τα mid-70s : η διαλογιστική αύρα, η ευφορική ώσμωση της jazz με την κλασική, ο μελωδικός πλούτος και οι ασυμβίβαστες αρμονίες, η φυσικότητα με την οποία περνάνε το πιο “δύσκολο” άκουσμα, καθιστούν το τρίο των Norma Winstone (φωνή), John Taylor (πιάνο, κίμπορντς), Kenny Wheeler (τρομπέτα, φλούγκελχορν) μια απο τις πιο αξιοπρόσεκτες φωνές της ECM της συγκεκριμένης περιόδου. There is something unique in the chemistry of the British jazz-fusion ensemble that thrived for two decades, starting from the mid-70s: the meditative aura, the euphoric osmosis of jazz with classical music, the melodic richness and uncompromising harmonies, and the natural ease with which they deliver even the most “challenging” sounds, make the trio of Norma Winstone (vocals), John Taylor (piano, keyboards), and Kenny Wheeler (trumpet, flugelhorn) one of the most remarkable voices of ECM during that period. We listen to a piece of rare beauty from their 1977 debut album.
