Face on Yellow Crying Red
Technique: Gouache
Original size: 10×14,5cm
from marina’s “Characters” © marina kanavaki
Note: As this is an original work, it is bound to have “imperfections”. In this case very few of them were retouched or cleaned, as I felt they added to the composition.

I enjoy the energy of abstract art, one can produce such enchanting pieces of art and allow the inner mind to focus on realism, and yet still embrace the fantasy that lives beyond the edge of reality 🙂 An awesome example here…

oh..i thought youd already started! 🙂 yes, im looking fwd to my visit to england…i’ll buy some cadburys whole nut for you there…! the british still make the best chocolate anywhere…better than swiss, american (herscheys..yuk!) etc
LikeLike
you haven’t tasted greek ones! Honestly, I was a huge fan of cadburys but I think our ION with almonds is one of a kind. I wonder if it’s possible to mail food nowadays without it being bombarded with radiation or being held at customs as a dangerous item! If not, then I’ll send you one for a comparison! 🙂

haha! thats very very kind of u , marina!
i got a feeling it would probably be held up in customs!
i really didnt know that there is such thing as greek chocolate…i always thought british stuff was the best!
i still love cadburys whole nut, fruit & nut etc!
last time i was in the uk, i went into sainsburys and bought several giant bars of whole nut….i think theyre about 30cm by 15cm…huge!
and i just put them in my suitcase amongst the clothes etc and got thru customs ok…!
chocolate addicts…whatever next LOL! ya sous, marina!

Well, on your next visit, be sure to try it. I know how strange it may sound “greek chocolate” but never underestimate a chocolate addict!!! 😉
Till then, enjoy lots of massive cads!!!! 🙂

LOL! last time i was in greece, all we tried, and lots of it, was the usual stuff…you know…baklava, dolmades, papoutsakia, and of course, plenty of greek salads! now you got my mouth watering!

Wow! This painting brings back a very vivid memory: I had just sliced up a red pepper, and someone bet me I couldn’t put all the little sticks in my mouth at the same time. Well! Guess I showed them… : )
Love the extreme close-ups with all the tiny cracks and other exciting detail. Yes, they all contribute to the dynamism of the work. There is no such thing as an imperfection in a Marina Kanavaki painting. I’m an art expert, and I know about these things… : )

The part about you being an art expert, I know, and a brilliant artist as well, it’s the other one about imperfection that’s got my gear going nuts… mechanism’s gone berserk!
Thank you, my friend!
I was wondering about that piece of red paper… was it printed, was it karmin or vermillion red, what did it taste like, its thickness and texture, did it have any message or drawing on, what was the prize of the bet and finally the expression of the challenger!! You do realize of course that the perfect response to the above would be a Mark drawing, don’t you?!!!! 🙂

Red paper?? No, no– it was a red pepper!! I only eat red paper if I run out of red peppers… : )
It was an exciting challenge– I’ll see if I can sketch it up from memory… : )

yes, well, I failed to mention that I have never experienced that style. Excluding school years…
😆 My “laid back” moments are either when I paint or write music, my dreamworld. Lucky those moments expand in time, so that an instant feels like an hour! 🙂

thats really surprising.that youve never experienced the relaxed lifestyle thats prevalent in greece, and in general, the mediterranean countries…i mean, coming form crete, it must have been pretty hard to avoid not joining everyone else who lived the easy life…mind you, none of us know what circumstances the next person lives under, so its hard to comment….

Hello Marina. I was just looking at your t-shirts. I wonder how much it would cost to ship one to Colombia, South America?

Thank you. That sound pretty reasonable. I was looking at the long-sleeve dark colored “Paths of Color.” Those are your works? I was wondering if you had something a long haired hippie fellow, xl, might wear while jogging at three in the morning?
LikeLike
…three in the morning?!!! Actually, sounds like a great time – although [if I could pull myself out of bed] I’d go for 4. All trees and plants exhale as they awaken during that time – in short: best quality oxygen! Unfortunately Society 6 don’t have long sleeve tees [except hoodies] but if you have a look here [http://www.cafepress.com/marinasartshop/10357903] you’ll see a few [many sizes!]. Let me know what you think!

I was just looking at the Society Six and I don’t much care for hoodies. Back to the Art Shop. I didn’t know that about the trees and plants exhaling at that time. All I knew is that, due to that hour, there are not many people or vehicles out and so the air seems really fresh and clean. It is very peaceful. You should get up at three once a month and go jogging. Thank you for your reply.

This is different to what I have seen from you before – but I like it .. it’s very bold and powerful, full of emotions. Very powerful … mad and angry. Excellent. The color are just fantastic .. yellow and red in combination is the colors even more stronger. In Sweden Yellow stands for danger.
