Iggy was born!

Σαν σήμερα, 21 Απριλίου 1947, στο Muskegon του Michigan γεννήθηκε ο James Newell Osterberg, περισσότερο γνωστός ως Iggy Pop, ο άνθρωπος που μετέτρεψε το ουρλιαχτό σε τέχνη, ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους performers στην ιστορία του ροκ. Σαν τραγουδιστής των Stooges από τα late ’60s καθόρισε το είδος που αργότερα θα εισέβαλλε στο mainstream υπό την ετικέτα του “punk rock”. Ιστορικές θα μείνουν ακόμα οι ηχογραφήσεις με τον Bowie στα middle-late ’70s [The Idiot, Lust For Life]. Επακολουθεί μια πληθώρα άλμπουμ [συμπεριλαμβανομένων των δυο της επανασύνδεσης των Stooges], στο πλαίσιο των οποίων ο Iggy αρκείται να είναι, όπως είχε πει σε μια συνέντευξη “the greatest Iggy Pop impersonator on the planet…”

On this date, April 21, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan, James Newell Osterberg, better known as Iggy Pop, was born. The man who turned yelling into an art form, one of the greatest performers in the history of rock. As the front-man of Stooges from the late ’60s he defined the “punk rock” genre. His work with Bowie in the middle-late ’70s [The Idiot, Lust For Life] is also historic. And then comes a plethora of albums [including the two from the Stooges reunion], in which our man is content to be, “the greatest Iggy Pop impersonator on the planet…” like he said in one of his interviews.
