Ο Χριστός Στο Όρος Των Ελαιών’ είναι ένα θρησκευτικό ορατόριο του Ludwig Van Beethoven γι ορχήστρα, χορωδία, σοπράνο (Σεραφείμ) τενόρο (Ιησούς) και μπάσο (Πέτρος). Το έργο έχει να κάνει με την αγωνία στον Κήπο της Γεθσημανή που θυμόμαστε την Μ. Πέμπτη.
Όχι από τα κορυφαία του συνθέτη, σπανίως εκτελούμενο σήμερα, δεν θα μπορούσε να μην έχει τις στιγμές του, όπως τα δυο αποσπάσματα που ακούμε.

‘Christ on the Mount of Olives’ is a sacred oratorio by Ludwig Van Beethoven for orchestra, choir, soprano (Seraph), tenor (Jesus) and bass (Peter). The play has to do with Jesus’ agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, which we recall on Holy Thursday.
Not among the composer’s best, rarely performed today, it certainly has its moments, like the two excerpts we hear.
