Σαν σήμερα, στις 9 Ιουνίου 1941, στο Leicester, γεννήθηκε ο πιανίστας, [θηριώδης] οργανίστας και συνθέτης Jon Lord, περισσότερο γνωστός για τη συμμετοχή του, ως ιδρυτικό μέλος, στους Deep Purple, από το 1968 μέχρι το 2002, αλλά και στους Whitesnake, Paice Ashton Lord κ.ά.
Παράλλληλα με την “κυρίως” δραστηριότητά του κινήθηκε στο χώρο της “λόγιας” σύνθεσης. Ξεκινώντας από το πρωτόλειο Concerto For Group And Orchestra του 1969 με τους Purple, κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο του αληθινό solo masterpiece στα 1976 [Sarabande].
Σ’ αυτή, την “κλασική” πλευρά του συνθέτη είναι αφιερωμένο το podcast.
Ο Jon Lord πέθανε από καρκίνο στο πάγκρεας το 2012.

On this date, 9 June 1941, in Leicester, the pianist, [ferocious] organist and composer Jon Lord was born, best known for his participation, as a founding member, in Deep Purple, from 1968 to 2002, and also in Whitesnake, Paice Ashton Lord etc.
In addition to his “main” activity, he moved in the field of “classical” composition. Starting with the 1969 Concerto for Group and Orchestra with Purple, he released his first true solo masterpiece in 1976 [Sarabande].
This podcast is dedicated to the “classical” side of the composer.
Jon Lord died of pancreatic cancer in 2012.
