from Oannes Songs Of Childhood Nostalgia #38
& another contribution to his theme by me!
Mετά τα δύο αριστουργηματάκια των Pink Floyd, που ανέβασε ο Oannes, κι ένα τρίτο από μένα. Ενα κομμάτι που τόσα χρόνια αργότερα, με συγκινεί το ίδιο. Comfortably Numb από το The Wall, 1979. [από το άλμπουμ και από το Live 8 στο Hyde Park το 2005]
✻
Following Oannes two gems by Pink Floyd, here’s a third one from me. A song that moves me the same way as it did when I first heard it. Comfortably Numb from The Wall, 1979. [album version and at Live 8 in Hyde Park in 2005]

❝ Hello? Hello? Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you’re feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I’ll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I’ve got that feeling once again
I can’t explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
Okay
Just a little pinprick
There’ll be no more, ah
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it’s working, good
That’ll keep you going through the show
Come on it’s time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb ❞
and this…

I love Pink Floyd and esp Comfortably Numb my favorite! 💖🌷🌺🌷💖
Me too, but especially this song gives me goosebumps from the first notes…
Me too, it’s genius. ❤️😘
Pink Floyd songs that I remember always seem relevant to the times we’re living in. They never grow old. 😍
You are so right… they never do! 😘😘
FAB artwork, Marina!!!!!

Ah… and a beautiful / creative and happy week ahead to you!!!!!! 🌷🌺🌷
Ahhh… One of the greatest songs by one of the greatest bands from one of the greatest albums… You can’t go wrong with this song. The epic guitar solos, haunting lyrics… And of course the movie at this point… Brilliant piece of work!
And your art to go alongside was excellent – not easy to go up against Scarfe with his iconic images from this album 😊
I know right… this song, the group and this film…
O-my… I hadn’t thought of that and by all means i had no intention on adding my artwork alongside Scarfe… Just my feelings/image while listening to this. 😉
Thank you, my friend! 🙏😊
Oh i think your work sits happily alongside my friend 🙂

Brings back memories of going to see The Wall when it came out.
For some reason, the phrase “How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?” sticks in my mind from way back then (perhaps because of the Scottish accent)
I remember the scene!
Song was never a favorite of mine but the film… I was very young when I saw it and the scene where kids go into a meat machine was engraved in my mind.
…”What have we here… poems no less…”!!!!!!
I used this song in my doctoral work…it has profound meaning for me. Thanks for sharing music that makes me think and feel Marina ~ smiles Hedy ☺️
Oh, so happy to hear that, my dear Hedy. This is a song with profound meaning to me too… 😘😊🤗
The song gives me chills. And your artwork: a perfect pairing.
To me too… same as the first time and EVERY time I hear it! Thank you, my friend. Eventhough I rarely describe my art [I prefer to leave the viewer dig in without me interfering], this was sorrow and despair held back. A mental scream, so to speak, unexpressed.
That is exactly what I perceived. I have a similar approach to explaining or describing my art. I very rarely do it. I might describe the process, but not the substance.
😊👍🙏
Comfortably Numb came up on my playlist driving in to work this morning. Whenever I hear the first two lines: “Hello? Hello? Hello? Is there anybody in there?”, I think about how that question applies to so many people, especially our elected officials, with all the idiocy they espouse. “Hello? Is anybody really in there?” I love the watercolor.
Coincidences coincidences…
Uninhabited top floors right?!
Good thing the song doesn’t take me there! 😉
Always moving to me.
Thank you, my friend. 🙂
Just brought me back over forty years ago… Jeez. How can that be?
Love your painting, too.
I know right?!!!!!! That song always always has me in tears …all these years later! 😉
Hours I lay on my bed, lights out, curtains drawn, listening to this 😊
🤗😘❤️🤗
