Κατά ένα ενδιαφέροντα τρόπο, ένας από τους θεμέλιους λίθους της δυτικής “λόγιας” μουσικής, κυριαρχούμενης από άνδρες, είναι το έργο μιας γυναίκας που κυριάρχησε πνευματικά τον 12ο αιώνα : της Γερμανίδας μοναχής, συγγραφέως συνθέτιδας, φιλοσόφου, και μυστικίστριας / οραματίστριας Hildegard Von Bingen, τιμώμενης ως αγίας από την Καθολική και την Προτεσταντική Εκκλησία.

Interestingly, one of the cornerstones of Western classical music, dominated by men, is the work of a woman who dominated spiritually in the 12th century: the abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, and German mystic / visionary Hildegard Von Bingen, honored as a saint by both the Catholic and the Protestant Church.
We hear a hymn by her to the Virgin Mary.
